Piston/Turbine Engine Oils, Other Oils & Greases

Listings in this category include piston/turbine engine oils, other oils & greases.

Different Piston and Turbine Engine oils (abbreviated as PEO and TEO respectively) form a type of lubricants used in general aviation, commercial and military aircraft engines, marine engines and other industrial applications,

Piston engine oils (PEO) used on aircraft, automobile or other engines keep them performing well and in good condition. They are generally made up of mineral oils fortified with materials such as non-metallic salts enabling them able to withstand the conditions of their intended function. They can also include different additives enhancing their properties to meet a wider range of requirements.

Turbine engine oils (TEO), also known as jet oils, turbo oils are specialty lubricants designed to support the operation of turbine engines. Apart from their lubricating function of the engine,  gearbox, shafts and associated accessories, TEO have two additional functions. Their various additives protect the components from corrosion, and filter contaminants in the engine such as carbon deposits (coking) while TEOs are also used as heat transfer fluids, cooling the engine in temperatures reaching 1000°C, in turn extending the life of the oil up to 25,000 hours of operation. Initially developed as mineral, TEO have been subsequently innovated to synthetic.

TEO used in commercial aircraft and general aviation engines are conforming with the US military specification MIL-PRF-23699 (formerly MIL-L-23699). Although primarily a military specification, MIL-PRF-23699 has served the commercial aviation sector since the 1960s and is still used today. This specification covers four oil  categories: STD – Standard, HTS – High Thermal Stability, C/I – Corrosion Inhibited (for military use only), and EE – Enhanced Ester.

In 2005, SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) has issued SAE AS5780 to replace MIL-PRF-23699 defining two grades of oil:

SPC – Standard Performance Capability, almost identical to STD except for additional reporting items.

HPC – High Performance Capability. SAE HPC grade has more stringent performance requirements compared with the MIL-PRF-23699 HTS grade.

Most commonly used aircraft turbine engine oil brands fall under both MIL-PRF-23699 and SAE AS5780 specifications in the respective categories. Furthermore, certain oils comply with different specifications to those of MIL-PRF-23699 or  SAE AS5780.

HTS/HPC oils offer improved temperature capabilities (engine cleanliness) but at the cost of lower elastomer compatibility & higher prices. Most engines run well on STD/SPC oils.

An extensive range of piston and turbine engine oils are already listed in our Web Platform for Supplies  and can be supplied to customers in different packing options, due to our co-operations with their respective producers or distributors.  If your oil is not listed please contact us for assistance or a quotation.
